Body care is booming in 2025
Is 2025 set to be the year that is all about body? At the start of 2024 Pinterest revealed that searches for ‘body skincare routine’ were up 1025% from the previous year and 2025 looks no different. With clients wanting higher quality and more advanced ingredients within their body care products as well as a rise generally in client’s being more ingredient savvy and knowing they want to see on their ingredient’s labels; body care is only set to become even more advanced than it is currently.
Beyond Basic Body Care
Gone are the days of a pumice stone and basic body scrub. We want more than a beautifully scented and fragranced body wash that feels like velvet when we massage it in. We want results. The trends in the industry are showing that clients are now more interested in chemical exfoliants for the body such as AHAs and BHAs to treat conditions such as keratosis pilaris and dry skin on the body. They are looking for high levels of active ingredients to target their concerns.
The Emerging Market: Results-Driven Body Products
You can see this trend emerging in brands such as the Inkey List who have brought out a glycolic ‘stick’. Used like a deodorant stick, on areas of dry skin or body acne to help target breakouts or acne. Or Paula’s Choice, who have brought out a BHA body exfoliating wash. Also brands such as Dermalogica have introduced a Salicylic Acid Spray for back acne.
As well as acids, niacinamide and vitamin C are all being added to formulas for the body too. An example of this is Face Theory’s Vitamin C Body oil.
Why Are Stronger Body Products in Demand?
The reason for this rush on strong, better and more results-driven body care? Now more than ever people are complaining of skin conditions from head to toe from sensitivity, breakouts, ageing, pigmentation, back acne, dullness, dryness. We want that glow that we get from our skincare all over our body.
In addition to this, as a population, we are more active than ever. More and more of us are hitting the gym or pulling on our running shoes and getting sweatier!
However, coupled with this is unfortunately a population that is more stressed than ever before, we are not eating or sleeping as well as previous generations and this means that our skincare concerns are spreading.
Opportunities for Treatment Rooms
As client expectations evolve, the demand for stronger, more effective body care products and treatments is growing rapidly. Today’s clients are increasingly seeking science-backed, results-driven treatments rather than traditional relaxing spa experiences. Just like the revolution that hit facials, bodycare is due an upgrade.
This shift in client behaviour means that we need to adapt the treatments and products we are using during our body treatments in order to offer the cutting edge of what the industry has to offer.
Elevating Your Treatment Menu
If you are considering updating your bodycare treatment menu, but don’t want to introduce a new range of products or purchase a new machine, why not upgrade your existing treatments with advanced techniques and products. For example, if you currently offer a traditional body scrub, why not replace it with a chemical peel specifically designed for the body? Enzymatic masks or products containing salicylic acid can deliver deeper exfoliation, helping to address concerns like keratosis pilaris, acne, or uneven skin texture.
Additionally, incorporating technology into body treatments can set your clinic apart. Offering ultrasonic cleansing or LED therapy for areas like the back or chest can target specific skin concerns, such as acne, pigmentation, or signs of aging. These advanced technologies not only maximize the use of your devices but also allow you to diversify your revenue streams by expanding beyond facial treatments.
By integrating science-backed techniques, advanced technology, and trend-driven services, you position yourself as a forward-thinking therapist, ready to meet the evolving needs of today’s clients. The result? Happier clients, enhanced treatment outcomes, and increased revenue for your business.
